Cultural Park
Guangzhou Cultural Park, located near Shamian and the Pearl River, is a multifunctional park offering entertainment, sightseeing, and exhibitions across 83,000 square meters. The park’s main attraction is a garden featuring traditional southern Chinese design with 18 courtyards adorned with statues and relief sculptures that blend traditional Chinese sculpture with the Lingnan art style.
A key highlight is the central platform, hosting Peking, Ping, and Cantonese Opera performances. Another significant feature is Han City, a mini-replica of a Han Dynasty city complete with horse-drawn carriages, period costumes, and life-like wax figures depicting famous Han Dynasty figures. This area also offers various teahouses, restaurants, and snack vendors, along with martial arts, acrobatic, and magic shows.
The park is famous for its annual events such as the Mid-Autumn Lantern Festival, the Spring Festival Flower Show, and the Ram City Chrysanthemum Show.
Originally known as the South China Native Products Exhibition and Exchange Conference in 1951, and later the Lingnan Cultural Relics Palace, it was renamed Guangzhou Cultural Park in 1956. For over 50 years, the park has hosted numerous cultural exhibitions and performances. It features several exhibition halls, including the Exhibition Center and the Aquatic Products Hall. The park frequently holds exhibitions on culture, economy, politics, and international exchanges, often in collaboration with various organizations.
The park is known for its top ten cultural brand activities, including the Spring Festival Flower Fair, Mid-Autumn Lantern Festival, Yangcheng Chrysanthemum Fair, Wuyang Cup National Chess Competition, and Guangzhou Youth Calligraphy and Painting Competition for Children. It also features traditional cultural activities like ancient lectures, public performances, and the Chess Art Museum, making it a cultural hub in Guangzhou.
