Liwan Pantang (泮塘五约)
Liwan Pantang Village is just next to the Liwan Park, actually it feels like it belongs to the park as it directly connects to it, which is great when you are walking through Liwan on your Guangzhou vacation.
The village itself is made out of many small alleys where you can find local businesses. Mainly Chinese craftmanship like pottery, bonsai trees but also tea and modern clothing stores. It kind of gives a hipster vibe and it probably is. At the end, Pantang is a great place to walk through, explore some souvenirs and art, meet friendly people and simply have a nice day.
The place is known for its narrow stone paths, brick walls, and traditional Xiguan-style homes, reflecting Guangzhou’s historical roots. In recent times, modern features like bookstores, coffee shops, and artisan workshops have been added, creating a balance between the old and the new.
This location provides a unique look into traditional Chinese architecture and the transformation of urban villages in Guangzhou. It serves as a great destination for those interested in understanding the city’s historical evolution.
