Biggest Forrest Park in Southern China
Huangshanlu Forest Park, is a large nature reservoir in the center of Nansha District. 1,200 hectares of greenery wit the main peak of 295 meters, making it the highest point in southern Guangzhou. You will be able to get a decent panoramic view of the Pearl River from it.
Only recently established in 2007 and opened in 2008, the park comes with rich biodiversity of 460 species vascular plants, including the nationally protected Aquilaria sinensis. It is also home to 41 bird species, such as the black kite, peregrine falcon, and kestrel, which are under national protection. Additionally, the park hosts various amphibians and reptiles.
And if that’s not enough nature, you can find many beekeepers and farmers around the park and get fresh honey or vegetables directly from them.
You can explore themed gardens like Peach Blossom Valley, Azalea Garden, Kapok Garden, Camellia Garden, Jiaoling Tree Garden, and Cherry Garden. The Cherry Garden is particularly popular during the cherry blossom season from February to March. The park features a network of roads and trails totaling 15 kilometers, including scenic spots like Yicui Pavilion and Zuiglulang. But what we liked the most was the lake with the huge grass field nearby. A great place to chill or play with kids.
Admission to Huangshanlu Forest Park is free.
