Martyr’s Park

Martyrs Park in Guangzhou is a historical and cultural site established in 1957. The park commemorates the martyrs of the 1927 Guangzhou Uprising, an important event in China’s revolutionary history. The park spans over 86 hectares and is located in the Yuexiu District.

Entering the park, you’ll find a large monument dedicated to the martyrs, which serves as a focal point and a reminder of the sacrifices made during the uprising. The monument is surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens which are a bit unusual to Guangzhou. There are many needle trees for example. As someone from a more northern area I liked the smell there a lot.

The park also hosts cultural events and exhibitions, adding to its role as a hub for community engagement and education. When we visited there was an exhibition about the uprising in a small museum on the western part of the park. So whether you’re interested in history or looking for a place to relax Martyrs Park is a places worth a visit.

At the far end you could also find a Sino-Russian friendship Pavilion as well as a Korean-Chinese friendship Pavilion.

Be aware that the Park serves also as Cemetery, so keep it respectful.
