Muqiang Reservoir (木强水库)
Muqiang Reservoir is a long stretch of water in middle of a small mountain range. Surrounding you will find many small mountains and hills, making it the perfect place for hiking in Guangzhou. You can start from several points and end up at the Muqiang reservoir, or you can start from the reservoir and move direction city or other landmark nearby. You can also hike nearby or almost around the reservoir. So you can see that there are endless possibilities in the area, which is why it is one of the most famous hiking spots in Guangzhou.
On the weekend you will come across many hiking groups or trail running groups. There are also trail runs held in the area, which generally are well organized and fun to attend. But prepare for many steep climbs, as the area is covered with lots of small, yet steep mountains or hills.
The great thing about hiking in Guangzhou is, that once you get on top of one of the hills, you can often find yourself having a great view on the city. On a good day you might even spot the Canton Tower
Both of these hikes have been from Niutoushan passing Miuqiang Reservoir, which showcase why the area is a great place for hiking in Guangzhou.
