People’s Park

Located near the bustling shopping district of Beijing Lu, People’s Park welcomes visitors with massive floral arrangements. Despite its central location, the park offers a cool retreat even on hot days, thanks to the large amount of trees.

People’s Park is used for many activities by locals who enjoy the ambiance. It is common to encounter choral and dance groups, as well as people playing tiqiu, making it a lively yet relaxing spot to spend an afternoon.

Built in 1921, People’s Park is Guangzhou’s first public park, rich in natural, aesthetic, cultural, and historical significance. Spanning 44,600 square meters, the park features large green spaces, diverse plant species, and six statues memorializing notable Chinese figures. It includes amenities such as bonsai gardens, children’s playgrounds, an open-air music cafe, and exhibition buildings.

The park’s site has historical significance, having served as the official residence of regional governments since the Sui Dynasty. Throughout its history, it has been the location of various government offices, including the Guangdong Provincial Government Suppression Office in the Yuan Dynasty and the Commanding Department of the Capital City in the Ming Dynasty.

Designed with an Italian garden layout, you can find towering old trees, hedgerows, and vibrant flowers. It also hosts several annual events, including the Chrysanthemum Exhibition, the Spring Festival Flower Festival, and the Mid-Autumn Lantern Festival, attracting both locals and tourists.
