Guangzhou Museum of Art (广州艺术博物院)
The Guangzhou Museum of Art is a key cultural spot in Guangzhou, highlighting Chinese art and culture but also hosting large international exhibitions. As one of the largest art museums in South China, it features a wide range of works, including calligraphy and paintings. Its recent expansion added a seven-floor venue with digital exhibits and an online platform, making it accessible to a broader audience. The museum hosts various exhibitions, including themed displays and cultural exchanges, offering visitors a chance to connect with art. Admission is free, providing an open opportunity to experience Guangzhou’s artistic traditions.
Apart from the Art inside the Museum you will start with getting one of the best views on the Guangzhou Tower from the square in front of the Guangzhou Museum of Art.
Inside it looks very spacious, yet the floors are not to large and very well organised. It is not the type of museum you will get lost in, which is great. You can focus on the art and just flow through the rooms and floors.
As any major museum, the exhibition is very well chosen and the art is on a level which you will surely not find in smaller museums across Guangzhou. We loved the sculptures on the second floor, but there is much more for you to explore on your trip to Guangzhou
