Bao’s Pastry (鲍师傅糕点)
Cantonese cuisines is famous for dim sum or morning tea which is an array of snacks and small dishes. No wonder that Cantonese cuisine is also great for pastries. Bao’s Pastry is one of many pastry chains and one of the bigger players.
While I was a big fan of their egg tarts, they do offer many different sweet and savory snacks. They tend to be quite heavy and filling. So while we do recommend to choose a few, do not take to much of these sweet snacks in Guangzhou!
For Vegetarians and Muslims one important note that the brown cotton like feeling coatings on some snacks are made from Pork. It is called “pork floss”. So some pastries in Guangzhou are neither Halal nor veggie.
