Wen Feng Xiang Yue (闻风相悦素食餐厅)
Wen Feng Xiang Yue in Chinese: 闻风相悦 comes from the poem about the twelve senses.
“But those who dwell in the woods, Hear the wind and sit together.” Who would have thought that those hermits in the mountains would be filled with joy when they smelled the fragrance of grass and trees?”
This pearl is basically a vegetarian restaurant, but we would not reduce it to that. As soon as you enter the venue, you will be amazed by the calmness of this garden restaurant, as well as the clean and accurate constructed details.
There are not many seats, as they clearly want you to have a calming and relaxing experience. You can sit on a veranda next to the old-building or on the other side of the small pond beneath or next to a small pagoda. Talking about the pond, which give the hole place its flair and is in the center of everything. Surrounded by flowers and bonsai trees, one can see that it was planted with love to detail.
The food itself also aligns to the poem of the twelve senses. Starting with the fact that it the menu comes written as a poem and contains 12 dishes each of them very clear and simple targeting one specific sense.
Do not be afraid when you get three beans as a first dish, the last dish before the dessert was a fried rice in stone pot, which we could re-order several times. So you will not leave hungry.
Also the service was extremely friendly and well trained, which made sure you always felt calm and welcome in this fine dining vegetarian restaurant in Guangzhou.
The menu changes 24 times a year according to the solar terms and the whole evening did was a bit more expensive with more than 500 for two persons. But it was defiantly worth the experience
