Exit the metro station of line 2 “Jiangnanxi” walk direction the large crossing and follow the road left, alongside the small river, to reach the park. Opening Hours  7 in the morning until 10 in the evening.

Xiaogang Park offers typical Chinese park amenities but is denser planted than some other parks in Guangzhou. A hidden library, doubling as a cafe with outdoor seating next to the lake, provides a tranquil spot, even during busy hours. Likewise, the workout area, with equipment for various exercises, is tucked away, usually not crowded. It includes a rack as well as several pull-up bars and a badminton pitch directly next to several table tennis plates.

Though the main road could be beautiful for running, especially with its small hill sections, it can get congested during peak hours. However, walking still offers a relaxing time throughout the day. The small lake offers boat rentals and peaceful paths for relaxation, including many benches for a picnic. In case a picnic is not enough, consider Zen Tea a michelin starred restaurant directly at the park entrance.

Considering picnic, the park, being close to the Jiangnanxi area with its cafes and eateries, is perfect for a leisurely afternoon. For a quieter experience, consider visiting late at night; the park now has extended hours, yet not widely known, making it nearly deserted after 9 pm. It’s an ideal time for a run followed by a workout with white-bearded, shredded Chinese pensioners, in between the bamboo woods.

Adding to its charm, Xiaogang Park is also home to a variety of seasonal flower displays, especially in spring when cherry blossoms and azaleas bloom, transforming certain sections into a pastel-colored retreat. The park’s dense greenery and bamboo groves create a surprisingly immersive nature experience within the bustling city. Bird enthusiasts may spot egrets, kingfishers, and other local species near the water features, making it a rewarding spot for casual wildlife observation.

Another highlight is the small but vibrant cultural presence within the park. On weekends, local musicians, dancers, and calligraphy enthusiasts often gather near the central plaza, offering an authentic glimpse into Guangzhou’s artistic community. Occasionally, pop-up tea ceremonies and tai chi sessions take place, allowing visitors to partake in these traditional practices amidst the serene backdrop of the park.
