Jiangnanxi is an area around the metro station with the same name. It can be reached via line 2 or by car. I recommend to take the metro as the stopping taxis always cause traffic jam and a lot of horns being used. As someone living right at this station, please help to avoid that. Thank you! 🙂

Jiangnanxi (江南西)
Jiangnanxi or literally translated River-South-West is a metro station in Haizhu district of Guangzhou which is home to a bustling area of food, drinks and any type of entertainment. Many food stalls and Guangzhou street food on the main road or the underground mall below. Lots of Coffee shops and small boutique stores in the alleyways besides the main road.

Coffee & Milk Tea
If you walk down the main road, jiangnanxi road, itself you will see many if not mostly stores selling bubble tea, lemon ice tea and soft-sweet bread. But you will also find a lot of restaurants and other stores. You will also see many young people walking down this street of Guangzhou enjoying their drink and snacks.
If you turn into one of the several neighbourhoods and small alleys, the milk-tea shops slowly turn into Cafes and small restaurants. This area in haizhu district of Guangzhou is famous for local Chinese. You will find a lot of young people walking through the alleys, taking pictures and having a coffee. The university of arts is also nearby, which is why you also stumble upon one or two galleries and art exhibitions on a street to through Guangzhou jiangnanxi.

In terms of food you can find anything you crave in this area. Have a fancy michelin starred meal in the Mall next to the station. Or maybe Thai-Food, Vietnamese or Western?

Walking
As mentioned above, the whole area consist of several small neighbourhoods that are full with local businesses catered to people having a walk on the weekend or after work.
Stroll through endless small alleys covered with trees and palm trees, and walk past small pop-up stores, galleries and restaurants.
The nearby Guangzhou art-university is reason to many small galleries and art-schools offering painting or pottery courses.
In terms of greenery you can follow the small river and have a relaxing walk besides the water, or you can enter Xiaogang Park which is directly next to Jiangnanxi.
