Yuexiu Park can be reached by metro line 2 to the Yuexiu park station. Traffic around this area is heavy, metro might be the best choice.

Yuexiu Park
In the north of Guangzhou’s historic Yuexiu District is Yuexiu Park. Once the northern bastion of the old walled city, most of the ancient walls have been dismantled to make way for the city’s expansion. Remains of its history can still be found in greenery of the park, especially on top of the Yuexiu mountain where you still can find old walls.
At the heart of Yuexiu Park lies the iconic Five Rams Sculpture, which is one of the most important historical attractions in Guangzhou.
On top Yuexiu Hill stands the Five-storied Pagoda, known as Chen Hoi Lau. Rising 28 meters high and 16 meters wide, this architectural beauty is part of Guangzhou’s cultural heritage since it first opened its doors as the Guangzhou Museum in 1928. Inside you can find artifacts and exhibits that chronicle the city’s rich history.
Making your way to the endless routes of the park, you can find Yuexiu Stadium, a football stadium built directly into the hill. The yellow color and of the seats and the location directly built into the hill makes it a stadium visit worth mentioning. Currently the cities Football team Guangzhou FC holds its games inside the stadium.
Apart from the cultural aspects, Yuexiu Park is a great Park for Running or walking, the size and endless routes make it possible to run or walk several kilometers without seeing the same tree again and again. Apart from the main roads which can be already challenging as they are partly very steep, there are many small and hidden routes through the greenery that can feel like hiking.
For any runner, if you want to include several hill sprints and then a relaxed phase past a lake, Yuexiu Park is perfect for that. I did train half a year there and got 30 minutes down on my Marathon time.
