Shangxiajiu Pedestrian Street

Shangxiajiu Pedestrian Street, located in the Liwan District of Guangzhou, is the first business street in the city, opening in September 1995. Stretching about 1,200 meters from Shangjiu Road and Xiajiu Road to Dishifu Road, Shangxiajiu includes more than 300 shops in the historic old town of Xiguan. The street is comes with a beautiful blend of European and Chinese architectural styles, featuring traditional Qilou buildings with Southern European influences and the characteristic Tanglong doors of Xiguan houses. Special for Guangzhou are the roofed pedestrian walks as Guangzhou is a rainy city and ancient architects were  bright minds. 🙂
